We were overwhelmed by the many supportive comments that were made by so many of you. Our main aim is to provide an outstanding education for your children and to be a school that makes a difference to you as families, so to have those positive comments means a great deal to everyone involved in school.

However, we are always looking to improve our provision and there were a few suggestions made that we have acted upon.

Take a look below.

We did…

Although there were many sporting clubs, some felt that there could be additional clubs with a different, non-sporting focus

We have started a chess club and a well- being club which takes place daily and is timetabled for different year groups. We are also looking to begin a cookery club, a gardening club and a geography club.

A few parents wanted more information about what their children would be learning in school.

The curriculum for all year groups is laid out in detail on our website under the curriculum tab and is available to be viewed by parents.

Moving forward, teachers will also provide a curriculum overview for the term on Seesaw at the beginning of each new term. This will outline what your child will be learning in school in the following weeks.

Some parents said that they didn’t know if the concerns they raised with school had been dealt with properly.

If you have any concerns at all, we always want you to talk to us. Children achieve best when school and home work closely together. We would hope that by working together, any concerns can be dealt with quickly and effectively. If parents feel that things have not been dealt with properly, then do come and talk to us.

This is what school does well…

  • They give each child self-drive to want to achieve
There is financial support for parents to pass on to child
The school gives mental and emotional support if needed
    They put the child first
  • My child is happy and can't wait to get to school in a morning. Everyone is extremely approachable.
  • They keep my child happy. she is always happy to go to school.
  • This school has high quality of teaching skills. It cares about my child. And parents get quick respond for any concerns. The school holds lot of after school clubs that pupils can attend which my child likes very much.
  • Engages children well with lots of encouragement for participation. Enthusiastic teachers who bond well with the children
  • Good behaviour is instilled in all the children. They take part in wide variety of subjects/ activities and trips. Personally I think they have too much homework. I understand encouraging them to read at home and spellings but I think they have enough hours in school to learn.
  • Gilded Hollins fosters an excellent learning environment and my child states that he enjoys learning.  The teachers are attentive to the needs of the children and very supportive should there be any issues.  The school offers support to the children and the teachers have been amazing when my child has experienced bereavement.  The teachers are contactable and approachable.  The school involves the wider community and forges links with parents to encourage the children's knowledge and education.  The headmistress is always approachable and receptive to anything raised.  The school has a big focus on reading and encourages the children to do their best.
  • It's a lovely school , it does everything well
  • The school has been excellent when attending to my child's SEND needs and assisting in giving her the tools to succeed
  • The school supports my child in all her work and helps her confidence grow.
  • They have good communication with parents
  • The school has a high standard with reading and writing, all subjects really. Every child is made to feel cared for and confident in subjects they do. Handwriting skills are excellent.
It's a very enjoyable environment for my child.
  • The school fosters a strong feeling of community.
  • It’s a perfect school
  • I think the buddy system they have in place is fantastic to help support pupils who find it hard to make friends at break times
  • They have caring teachers and TAs
  • Lots of nice events and activities, which are fun and celebrate moments/ occasions throughout the year
There is a positive, inclusive approach in the school, it feels like a community
  • They have good exam results.
Strong sense of community with strong relationships between staff and pupils.
    Excellent teaching
    A strong reading culture
  • Exam results
    Excellent teaching
    Strong sense of community
    reading culture
strong relationships between staff and pupils
  • It is a friendly school with competent and professional staff. A few staff members with particular passion for their occupation and who show genuine personality make it especially stimulating for my child.
  • The staff are approachable and friendly and help with any questions raised.
  • Thank you for all the hard work for the kids and for showing up especially in the hardest times. You are all heroes (too) in our opinion.
  • They keep parents informed on a daily basis
  • My daughter is happy at this school
  • My child loves his teacher and friends
  • The school promotes a healthy lifestyle. Uses a lot of variation in all subjects
  • It's like a home from home
  • Communication with teachers is really good.
Additional support has been put in place for my son to help his learning progress.
Also provided with additional learning tools to use at home.
  • Good Morals & Values
  • This school is a massive family and the support and love from the school is amazing.
  • We feel that the school is very well led by Mrs Burns. The teachers are dedicated and go over and above to help the children. The school communicates very well with parents. We feel that we can be involved in the community at school.
  • Well behaved children
  • Good communication
  • I love the high expectations of behaviour and achievement that the staff have for our children.
  • Good communication, easy to approach , kind , friendly
  • Makes my child happy in them self and their confidence has grown
  • Community/family feel
  • Everything in my opinion is done to amazing standards
  • It is very organised and communication is good.
  • Keeping children and everyone safe especially with covid, meeting every child and parents needs
  • Lots of activities away from the usual curriculum.
  • Gilded Hollins School feels like a family, not just a place of education.  There is a mix of abilities and interests and opportunities are made available for everyone to find their niche.  Allowing years 5 and 6 to help with KS1 is a simple but hugely effective idea as it gives a bit of responsibility to the older kids but excitement for the younger ones that they get to play with their peers.  Reception children shout hello to my daughter on the way into school, which is so nice to see.  School is about more than just numbers and letters, it's about helping children be kind, helpful and positive members of society (which are sadly lacking these days) and I feel Gilded Hollins is helping to make this happen.
  • Virtual parents evenings have worked well.
  • Good contact with parents.
Ensuring pupils have good moral compass
A wide range of sports and subjects
  • This school is excellent!
The staff are so caring and involved.
They have high standards but help to achieve those standards!
  • This is a fabulous school, I would recommend to anyone and great teachers . My child has had the same teaching assistant the last two years who goes beyond
  • L loves coming to school and is always challenged to achieve her personal best. All staff are caring and empathetic and on the odd occasion where I have had any concerns, they have been dealt with quickly. Gilded Hollins has a consistent approach throughout school in terms of behaviour rewards, reading and homework.
  • We love the school. My son is very happy there, my son is pushed educationally and there is good discipline at the school.
  • All aspects of education, especially during lockdown.
  • It feels like a family.
  • The head teacher, or deputy head stands outside the school every single morning, this gives the parents the opportunity to talk without always being official! I think this is excellent, I also feel this school is excellent at including everyone and I cannot fault the teachers or management! Such a loving caring school with excellent standards
  • The school and staff are approachable and like a big family my child loves school and is thriving.
  • Since starting Reception in September, my son has enjoyed attending and has settled in well. He is happy and has made lots of friends. I have been particularly impressed with how many wider opportunities are offered at the school. Already he has attended a full school trip to the zoo, a class trip to the fire-station and numerous visitors have attended the class to enhance the topic of People Who Help Us. He has also enjoyed other out of school experiences such as a Movie Night and Halloween disco. G has talked about these experiences at home. As parents we have also attended a reading meeting. We have loved seeing the updates on Seesaw and this has provided us with a great opportunity to talk about things and work on similar things at home.
  • Just love the school
  • I love that the school sets high expectations & the values that they instil into the children. The ethos around community spirit etc is excellent. These subjects are just as important in life as learning to read and write are. I'm confident my child will grow up to be a caring and considerate person with good morals.
  • There is good communication
The soft start helps to alleviate traffic issues
    After school clubs
opportunity for indoor play and alternative to football
    interactive learning
    fun learning
