Barnstondale
Barnstondale is a residential trip that usually takes place in the Spring term. The children undertake a 2-night residential stay at the Barnstondale Centre, located on the Wirral. The three days are action packed and filled with a range of fun activities. The trip is always a huge highlight for the Year 4 children. It helps to develop independence, resilience and team working skills.
Day 1 is almost done and what a busy one it’s been! From the minute we arrived, we got stuck in! So far the children have behaved superbly and have enjoyed shooting, rock climbing, abseiling, archery, orienteering and much more. We managed to make our beds (eventually and with a bit of help) and have settled into our rooms. Our very own version of Traitors started too but unfortunately we’ve banished three faithfuls - not the best start! The children will find out who’s been murdered in the morning! After a tea of pizza, we went into the woods for a geography-themed orienteering game with our torches. Well done to our winners - Sofia, Mila, Luke and Fraser. It was then back inside for some party games and Jelly Bean Roulette (I’d like to say thanks to Leo for bringing but…). We’re now watching K-Pop Demon Hunters with a drink and piece of toast before bed. Fingers crossed the children sleep. We’ve got plenty flagging already which bodes well. Check out the pictures below to see what we’ve been up!
Everyone slept through the night without any dramas. It’s been another cracking day. We haven’t lost anyone else to sickness and we gained Imogen - winner winner! We started off with a big breakfast that set us up for the day. It was then off to activities where each group completed the activities that they hadn’t yesterday. After lunch, each group went into the woods for shelter building and fire starting. Mrs Burns has been down to pay us a visit and was really impressed with what she saw! Phew! The Traitors game has kicked off royally with 3 traitors being uncovered today. There’s a plot twist coming in the morning though! Tea was a bbq tonight and it was amazing. For the evening, we headed down to the woods for hide and seek in the dark followed by marshmallows and some questionable singing around the campfire. Finally, after another jam-packed day, we’re settled with our supper finishing K-Demon Hunters. See you tomorrow!
I’ll save the write up today and let the children tell you all about their time away when they get back to you!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
