2019-20

Year 6 showed determination, passion, self-belief, teamwork, respect and honesty at Low Bank Ground!

2nd place for the girls and 3rd place for the boys today in the swimming gala at Leigh Sports Village!

 

Our Year 2 'Kurling' team had a great time at the LLG competition!

What a brilliant effort from all of our cross country runners today! Special mention to Isabella who came 6th and has qualified for The Manchester Games!

 

We had to adapt to not playing contact in the Wigan East tag rugby competition, finishing 4th in the end!

Our fencing team had a great time at the competition at Golborne High. Thank you to Mrs Thornley for coming along too!

Well done to everyone involved in a difficult cross country trial!

An impressive performance from our Year 5 hockey team in our fabulous new kit!

Not the result we wanted in our first football match but definite improvements in the second half.

We recently received the Platinum School Games Mark for 2017-18 and 2018-19 recognising all that we do around sport at Gilded Hollins. Much of the credit must go to Miss Whittaker who worked so hard to help us achieve this before she left. Here are just a few of the many children who are so engaged in sport at Gilded Hollins with the prestigious award!

A strong 5th place finish for our Year 2 football team yesterday! Well done, guys!

Our Year 4 Town Sports team were an absolute credit to themselves, their parents and school. Preet (3rd) and Lucy (1st) bagged medals in the throwing whilst Lucy qualified for next week's 80m sprint final.

A hard fought netball contest between the staff and the High5 team resulted in a 20-13 victory for the staff!

Our rugby team secured a best ever 3rd place finish and The Post Office Cup!

Our High5 'A' Team qualified for the next round of the Wigan East competition while our 'B' competed well!

They performed well throughout the day in a range of events but our 'QuadKids' teams didn't make the top 3!

WIgan East's dodgeball bronze medalists! Strong competition tonight but our boys and girls gave it their all!

Well done to the dodgeball team who progressed to the next stage of the Wigan East competition!

Unfortunately, our Tri-Golf teams came a close second to their bid to qualify for The Manchester Games. The children showed great effort and attitude and thoroughly enjoyed the playoff!

With our Year 3 and 4 team confirmed as Wigan East winners, our Year 5 and 6 Tri-Golf team made it a clean sweep last night!

We won the Manchester Games, thanks to the pep talk from Rob Lui and Junior Sa'u!

Our Year 3/4 Tri-Golf team won their heat at the Lowton High School. Next stop, Manchester?

Our Year 6 Tag Rugby team won the Wigan East heat and have now qualified for the Manchester Games!

Our Highland Games teams finished 2nd (Team 2) and 15th (Team 1) out of 27 schools!

Archery club!

Our Cross Country team came 2nd in the Wigan East section of the recent competition at Leigh Harriers! Both Ethan (4th) and Gabe (6th) have qualified for the Manchester Games with the girls finishing 3rd as team!

At the Year 4 and 5 Wigan East Swimming Gala, our girls finished 2nd out of ten strong schools! Our boys also achieved 5th place! Well done, super swimmers!

The Gilded Hollins basketball team narrowly missed out on qualification to the final after 4 wins and a draw, from their 7 games in a great competition at Leigh Sports Village. Top effort, boys and girls!

Our fantastic football team after a 21-1 victory, last night!

A huge well done to all those in Year 4 who have attended Table Tennis club. The children have made massive improvements over the last 6 weeks and had great fun along the way!

Our fencing team were on fire yesterday, at Leigh Sports Village. They won 4, drew 1 and lost 2 out of their 7 games and had a brilliant afternoon!

Well done to all who took part in the first of our cross county trials!

Well done to our Year 1 Curling team who won 3 of their 8 games, in a Year 2 competition! Great effort!

Our Year 4 Football team came 4th of out 6 in a difficult group but couldn't progress to the next round. Alfie (4), Poppy (1) and Liam (1) managed to bag goals during the tournament!
